Animal-Assisted OCD Treatment

OCD Treatment, while highly effective, can also be a taxing, dysregulating experience.  In order to heal our distress, we must face it.  We need to confront our phobias, explore core fears, and have the courage to persevere towards a more resilient and sustainable approach to life.  Especially with children, it can be hard to establish therapeutic compliance for the less pleasant aspects of OCD Treatment.

Animal-Assisted OCD Treatment

At Kairos Wellness Collective, we aim to provide an environment that sets our clients up to succeed at this formidable goal.  For clients who request it, we offer appointments alongside two gentle but spirited dogs.

Animals can provide a sensory input that distracts clients from their presenting concerns, and also can noticeably change the tone of a session from anxiety-provoking to joyful.  Some clients interact with the animal while we proceed with our treatment, but others simply allow the soothing presence in the room.

During the first few sessions, clients may request to bring their own comfort animal to session, as they adjust to the new environment and feel greater ease with their clinicians.

If you would like your or your child’s session at Kairos Wellness Collective to include a trained comfort animal, simply indicate so at intake for OCD Treatment.
