What is EFT Tapping and how do we use with OCD Treatment

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is an effective, evidence-based tool that has been proven to be beneficial for those suffering from anxiety and OCD.

EFT has become increasingly popular in the last few decades, and is now being used around the world to help individuals manage their mental health. Although there are still many unanswered questions about its effectiveness, research continues to demonstrate positive results for those with anxiety and OCD.

Its history can be traced back to the 1970s, when a psychologist named Roger Callahan developed Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

TFT was created with the intent of identifying and releasing negative emotional states through stimulation of acupressure points on the body.

EFT was derived from TFT, but some credit its development to Gary Craig in the 1990s. This more modern version draws from principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy, neuroscience, and Chinese medicine, including acupressure.

What is EFT Tapping and how do we use with OCD Treatment

EFT works to balance the body's subtle energy system by tapping on specific meridian points while tuning into particular emotional issues.

The most commonly used points are located on the face and upper body, including the forehead, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, and underarm.

The main asset to EFT is that it is easy to learn, and it can be done by anyone in the comfort of their home or in situations of high anxiety. Clients can learn to regain their inner own balance after being exposed to their fear triggers, thus reducing their body’s natural reactivity.

EFT has been found to be especially helpful when practiced in session when distress is elevated and then applied as a grounding technique outside of the therapy office.

EFT can also be used as a preventive measure in order to reduce the risk of developing anxiety disorders in the aftermath of traumatic events.  Regular practice will help to create a more balanced and peaceful lifestyle, allowing you to live life with an increased sense of calmness and peace.
