Meet Gavin

Therapist (LPCC)

Gavin Parks

Creating a safe and inclusive environment to induce positive change in an individual’s life is of utmost importance to Gavin’s therapeutic strategy. Being part of the hearing impaired and LGBTQIA+ communities has equipped Gavin with a distinct capacity to recognize and celebrate each client’s unique differences.

Gavin obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Auburn University and a Master’s in counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a clinical mental health concentration and continually strives to gain the latest knowledge necessary to create comprehensive treatment plans. Gavin’s experience includes being a student clinician at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Community Counseling Clinic which allowed him to explore the intersectionality of individuals and how that shaped their resilience to battle implicit discrimination and disparities in their reality.

Gavin utilizes an integrative counseling approach that includes aspects of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. With a strong belief that not “one size fits all,” Gavin’s ability to adapt is one of his greatest strengths as a counselor.

Gavin is excited to join the clinician team at Kairos Wellness Collective and to widen his treatment scope in working with individuals with OCD. With a personal connection on how OCD impacts their life, Gavin is particularly interested in empowering clients to talk back to their negative thoughts, and establish a strong positive self-regard. Gavin is passionate about helping clients take the reins of their own healing.  Gavin also is the Emetophobia coach for Kairos as he is able to meet clients where they are at and allows for a space to sit with the anxiety at each step related to the fear hierarchy. Gavin sets up a client for success by providing psychoeducation on ERP, Emetophobia, Mindfulness, and Distress Tolerance Skills to allow for ERP to be effective.

When Gavin is not at Kairos, you can find him exploring the beauties that Colorado has to offer as well as climbing at the local climbing gym. Gavin also uses his spare time to advocate for human rights by attending various events and volunteering.
